Meditation: A Way of Christian Prayer

Meditation is a universal spiritual practice that guides us into prayer. It brings us to silence, stillness, and simplicity. The rich Christian mystical tradition calls us to go to the depths, to contemplative prayer, where the spirit of the Divine is praying in our hearts. This fall, Wisdom Ways offers classes to learn more about Christian meditation as taught by John Main, OSB; regular times for meditating with others; and days of meditation to deepen our contemplative prayer practice.
Presenters for the meditation sessions: Deborah Chernick, a CSJ Consociate, is a financial management consultant for nonprofits. She holds masters degrees in science and business administration and has studied and practiced meditation for many years. Deborah is also on the board of the Trust for the Meditation Process.
Susan Oeffling, CSJ, a spiritual director and group facilitator, has practiced meditation for years. With masters degrees in theology and counseling, she completed her education as a spiritual director through the Center for Spiritual Guidance Program. Both Deborah and Susan participated in a World Community for Christian Meditation workshop on the Essential Teachings of John Main, OSB.
